ITC completes Cat6 install for Hyundai Merchant Marine

An IT Director's guide to selecting the right cabling infrastructure
for maximum ROI

--ITC announced that they have now completed a passive LAN installation at Hyundai Merchant Marine’s prestigious new European HQ in Docklands, London. The solution forms part of HMM's Global IT strategy that will incorporate an 'Advanced Information System' to allow total automation of their logistical booking, real time tracking and billing systems for their entire fleet.

With over 4500 personnel in 70 offices and branches worldwide, HMM has grown
to become one of the worlds largest multi-modal marine transportation companies, commanding over 119 ships as of January 2002. Their fleet includes full container carriers, LNG carriers, oil tankers, pure car carriers, bulk carriers, and others.

A Category 6 system was recommended as the most suitable cabling infrastructure
for the London HQ. As Dave Bonney, ITC, explains, "With the new Dockland site representing an important hub within Hyundai's global network, a Category 6 system provided a future proof foundation able to meet the current and expected demands brought on by the consolidation of HMM’s administration and impressive real-time logistical network".

Having worked closely with Denton Associates, the Design & Build company managing Hyundai’s relocation, the installation was completed within stringent
timescales of 6 days, and is supported by a 25-year Warranty to give HMM complete lifetime quality assurance.
